It is necessary to toughen legislation against pseudo-religious organizations that are engaged in extremism, and to support faiths that contribute to inter-ethnic inter-religious peace, said the head of the Duma Committee on civil society development issues, public and religious organisations Sergey Gavrilov.

«We believe that the main denominations, which are the major contributors to the development of society and the state in interethnic and interreligious peace, require additional support in education, culture, participation in social life. And at the same time possibly strengthen extremist legislation», — said Gavrilov RIA Novosti.

The MP stressed that the state Duma has seen a number of movements of «how religious» is actually, in essence, are pseudo-religious, «have a religious shell, and basically have the character of either fraudulent organizations or extremist movements, or just a tool to interfere in the internal Affairs of the Russian Federation».

«(Strengthen) control, report, responsibility for these actions. Can, prescribe, the conceptual apparatus more clearly and firmly… to exclude the possibility of action of various destructive pseudo-religious extremist organizations under the guise of socially-oriented NGOs», — said the Deputy, responding to a clarification question about how it can be strengthened legislation to combat extremism.
