Orthodox activists from several social movements sent to the authorities of Novosibirsk, the Novosibirsk region and the Plenipotentiary of the President in SFO open letter in which asked to prohibit the showing of the movie «Matilda» in the region.

Signatures on a petition, a copy of which is posted on the Internet, have put members of the Novosibirsk coordinating Council on the protection of public morals, culture, and traditional family values. A letter addressed to the mayor of Novosibirsk Anatoly Elbow, the Governor of the Novosibirsk region Vladimir Gorodetsky and the Plenipotentiary of the RF President in the Siberian Federal district Sergei Menyailo.

«Please take note of our open letter to you as the heads of Federal, regional and municipal authorities… to refuse to rent the movie «Matilda» in Novosibirsk and Novosibirsk region», — the statement says.

One of the authors of the coordinator of the club of Orthodox large families of the city of Berdsk Ivan kvasnitsky told RIA Novosti that on September 14, the appeal was transferred to the office of the Plenipotentiary envoy of the Governor and the mayor.

The authors, citing the need to ban the screening of the film, talking about the results of previously conducted examination, which allegedly acknowledged that the film is a «deliberate insult of religious feelings of believers». They also note that the number of subjects of the Russian Federation has declared the refusal to hire «Matilda».
