Engine-company NPO «Energomash» will completely abandon paper drawings in the design of the RD-171МВ for rockets «Soyuz-5», said in a Friday newspaper «Izvestia».

«The world’s best developer of liquid rocket engines of NPO Energomash for the first time in its history, will design the engine is fully digital. On the instructions of the company’s management, the designers will completely abandon drawing boards and paper drawings. Digital will become the «engine» for new Russian carrier rocket middle class «Soyuz-5», — is spoken in article.

The publication notes that experts believe the transition to digital design an important, although belated, step. Digital design of the engine will be conducted in accordance with the concept approved by the leadership of the NPO «Energomash» and approved by the head of the scientific Institute of the rocket-space industry, the Institute and the state Corporation «Roscosmos».

«The concept involves the introduction of the enterprise and in General in the holding company rocket propulsion engineering digital system design (PLM system, product lifecycle management software application to manage the life cycle of the product),» notes the newspaper.
