The Minister of health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova told about prospects of development of biomedical technologies in Russia, the correspondent of RIA Novosti.

«Now we see the accelerated introduction of scientific developments in medicine. Due to the fact that developed such a thing as translational medicine, has formed a new infrastructure around the leading medical universities and research centers and start-UPS for young scientists… I’d like to note that we are now creating a powerful multi-component translational medical centers, one of them created this year starts in Saint-Petersburg… this is the Almazov centre. Next year a similar center will be built in the Russian national research medical University named after Pirogov in Moscow. And several centers are prepared in parallel (in the regions — ed.)», — said Skvortsova on the forum «Biotekhmed».


The Minister noted that to speed up three to five times the emergence of innovative technologies in Russia needs innovative development which involves the formation of a priority in the state, the formation of the intellectual centers, design bureaus for each priority with the formation of a multicomponent algorithm to achieve the desired result, building virtual teams of media competences, regardless of where they work.

Bionic technology and microelectronics

Skvortsova noted that the developed biotic technology, for example, in Russia successfully completed the first implantation of the processor in the retina to restore vision of a man who for 20 years have not seen.

«And managed to achieve a visual flow through the chamber, which is located on the glasses in the back,» said the Minister.

She noted that in Russia together with American colleagues is the development of a cortical graft, «which will allow even crossing the optic nerve to restore vision through the visual cortex».

«Now the bionic developed processes that work from the activity of their muscle tissue… the More complex issue is the management «brain-computer» brain-computer interface. Two points in Russia to develop this technology based on two different approaches, two different mechanisms. One only works when level of consciousness is clear, the other works in any level of consciousness… we can control and play on the computer remotely and print to the computer remotely, we can activate those areas of the brain that are usually asleep… a special theme, including for the development of reading minds at a distance», — said Skvortsova.

She noted that while it only used nadkarny diversion, but while in the country do not know how to do flexible floating electrodes, which allow smaller areas to remove the signals and it does not oxidize. This is one of the most important tasks for microelectronics and Biomedicine.

Robots and virtual reality

Russia has created a robot, designed for surgical interventions, it is smaller than foreign counterparts.

The Minister drew attention to the technology of virtual reality, which can also be used in medicine.
