Requirements for security systems at Russian mines is currently higher than ever, said RIA Novosti Deputy Chairman of Rostechnadzor Alexey Ferapontov, commenting on the recent accident at the mine in the Komi Republic.

According to him, the requirements for system safety in coal mines was greatly increased after a major accident at the mine «Raspadskaya» in Kemerovo region in 2010, which killed 91 people.

«Safety requirements in mines today is greater than ever. After the accident at the «Raspadskaya» Rostekhnadzor issued a 33 document that will toughen requirements to the security system. According to Rostekhnadzor, the tightening of these requirements the number of accidents, incidents and injuries and the number of dead miners in the mines «declined sharply,» said the Agency interlocutor.
