«It was a lot of good (since the last meeting with Matviyenko in January) for our citizens, for our exporters, there were some very unpleasant things that happened for the first time in 25 years of diplomatic relations between our countries», — said Igor Dodon.

From the beginning, the government of Moldova and the parliamentary majority was adopted a series of anti-Russian measures, including the expulsion of five Russian diplomats, refusal of entry into the country of the Russian artists, cultural figures and journalists, the Declaration of persona non grata in the Republic Vice-Premier of Russia Dmitry Rogozin.

«I want to thank in Your person the Russian leadership for the fact that, in spite of all the provocations that make some parties that still controlled the parliamentary majority and the government of the Russian Federation has consistently demonstrated its openness and support of the Moldovan people», — he stressed.

In response, Matvienko recalled that the request came directly from the Dodon. «You have requested it, of course, the Russian leadership had listened to her, knowing that she was absolutely correct,» she said.

In this context, the President pointed to the fact that over the past 9 months has increased the export of Moldovan goods «for the majority of positions that are of interest to Russian consumers and producers». «We have almost two times increased supplies of wine, three times increased supplies of vegetables and fruits. About 100 thousand of our citizens either got Amnesty or legalization, is very important to us. Not coincidentally, more than 65% of Moldova’s population consider Russia a friendly state, despite what is happening in the past months», noted Dodon.

«What happened and what is happening with some applications, it is an agenda of a specific political party, in any case can not accept it as the position of Moldova», stressed the President. «It is the position of a political party, which went bankrupt in the preferences of Moldova’s population, and in order to please their Western curators and settling into a new confrontation between the West and the East, makes such statements and some action,» he explained, adding that «it is long» for this time, «was able during this time to significantly strengthen the position and credibility of the presidential institution, which was not in the last 8 years.»
