The President of the United States Donald trump is ready to soften its position on the Paris climate agreement, refusing to withdraw from the contract. About it reports AFP referring to the official representative of the EU for climate, Miguel arias Canete.

«The United States said they would not reopen the Paris agreement, but will attempt to renegotiate the terms of its participation in this agreement,» the official said after the Montreal meeting of Ministers from 30 countries dedicated to climate change.

According to Canete next week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly will hold talks with representatives of the United States, during which it is planned to evaluate the position of Washington.

The Wall Street Journal, in turn, reported with reference to a source that White house adviser Everett Eissenstat during the meeting in Montreal said that Washington is studying the terms of the Paris agreement and does not intend to develop a new contract.

At the same time, White house spokesman Sarah Sanders said that Washington’s position on Paris agreement remained unchanged. «The United States will be released (from the agreement. — Approx. ed.) if you do not get Pro-American terms,» she wrote on Twitter.

Deputy press Secretary of the White house Lindsey Walters also denied Washington’s willingness to make concessions in this matter. «The President said very clearly that the United States will be released (from the agreement. — Approx. ed.) if you do not get more favorable terms,» — said in a statement.

In early August, the state Department officially notified the UN of intention to leave Paris agreement to combat global climate change. While the foreign Ministry noted that the US is «open to re-joining the agreement» if «will be created more favorable conditions for business people, workers and taxpayers.»

The President of the United States Donald trump announced the country’s withdrawal from the Treaty of Paris the first of June. The head of the White house stressed that the future actions of Washington will depend on whether we will manage to conclude a «fair deal».

According to him, the Paris agreement puts Washington at a disadvantage, creating the advantages of other countries. So, according to trump, while continuing to remain party to the transaction, United States by 2025 could have lost about 2.7 million jobs.
