A slight increase in excise duties on fuel will not cause a surge in social activity, however, this is not the last, told RIA Novosti the head of Federation of automobile owners of Russia (HEADLIGHTS) Sergey Kanaev.

The Finance Ministry estimates the total increase in excise taxes of about 40 billion rubles. Siluanov said that the money will be spent on the implementation of major plans for the construction of new roads and infrastructure, primarily in the Crimea, Kaliningrad and the far East.

However, according to Kanaeva, the construction of roads in the moment is not a priority in Russia, and money from the earmarked tax is likely to be spent on social costs, such as pension payments.
