Georgian Opera singer, brother of a famous actor Kakhi Kavsadze and Imeri Kavsadze believes the death of the national artist of the USSR Zurab Sotkilava a great loss to Opera.

People’s artist of the USSR, an outstanding Georgian and Russian Opera singer, soloist of the Bolshoi theatre Sotkilava died on Monday at age 80 after a long illness.

«This is a big loss for Georgian Opera and vocal school. He was a great singer, an artist, a citizen and a wonderful man. His loss to me, like a knife in the heart. Very sad,» said Kavsadze RIA Novosti.

According to him, he saw an artist in Tbilisi a couple of months ago, when he was already sick, but «hope for recovery still remain».

«All his performances were, how beautiful a spectacle, he was an extraordinary artist,» added Kavsadze.
