The security service of Sberbank in late August in conjunction with the staff of DEB and PC Moi of Russia in Moscow stopped the activities of the fraudulent call center, according to a credit institution on Monday.

«With the active cooperation of the security service of the savings Bank at the end of August 2017, staff DEB and PC Moi of Russia in Moscow, suppressed the activity of a fraudulent call center. During a large-scale operation detained 18 people, criminal case is brought on signs of structure of the crime provided by article 159 of the criminal code «Fraud», — stated in the message.

Specially equipped call-center sold to customers of medicines, as well as collected information about their personal data using social engineering techniques. Material damage caused by 100 citizens from various regions of Russia exceeded 30 million rubles. The security service of Sberbank has the consequence of assistance in the investigation. To preserve the secrecy of the investigation, additional details of the arrest were not disclosed.

The network of Sberbank consists of more than 17 thousand units in 83 regions of the Russian Federation. The main shareholder is the Bank of Russia (50% of the share capital plus one voting share).
