MTS, the largest mobile operator in Russia, began to provide services for the processing of large data sets on the basis of its own data centers, says the company.

«Today, with big data ceases to be the prerogative of the IT companies and large corporations. With the advent of the Russian IT-market cloud service MTS processing of Big Data becomes available to small and medium enterprises, which increases the competitiveness of their business», – said the Director of the innovation Center of MTS Vladimir Khrenkov, whose words are included in the press release.

As told the press Secretary of MTS Dmitry Solodovnikov, the economic effect from implementation of projects in the field of Big Data in 2016 exceeded 500 million rubles. In March, the company announced a new development strategy, under which, in particular, the MTS is more focused on investing in FINTECH, OTT services, Big Data, and the like.

In November last year, the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov said that the working group on issues of Internet development under the office of the President of the Russian Federation began developing the bill that govern the use of Big Data. And in March, the Russian presidential aide Igor Schegolev said that the ideas for regulating Big Data «in a gray area» can be defined for 2017.

Meanwhile, the development Fund of Internet initiatives (FDII) said in may that it plans, together with Yandex, MTS, MegaFon, X5 and retailer Association «FINTECH» to develop their own law governing the use of these data.
