Every minute in Moscow someone takes 4,5 things in charity containers. This is the statistics project, the Charity Shop, who works in the capital for three years. There are already four shops, and soon another will open in Kostroma. Over 70 thousand people a year give things for charity, and a quarter of the workforce are people from socially disadvantaged groups, i.e. the homeless, ex-addicts, mothers who have children removed.

From survival to life

Founder Darya Alekseeva tells how one day, investing in the sale of unnecessary things or six thousand, she was able to help out in charity 130 thousand. So the idea to first store the Charity Shop.

«The trust and recognition of doing incredible things. Two years ago we with my employees to each other in the eyes, and now I’m getting TEXTS: «a month in the mental hospital and return to you,» Daria Alexeeva, founder of a network of charity shops shows the warehouse and tells about the people who work here.

Premises in the industrial area had to rent, when the Muscovites began to deliver not only clothing suitable for sales and humanitarian assistance, but also things that need to be recycled. A day in the warehouse goes from 800 kilograms to tons of clothes. Each employee of sorts in the day about 300 pounds of stuff. It is 1.5 ton per week. Five tons per month.«The bottom I have seen.» As the homeless return to normal life

Racks with bags reach to the ceiling: «winter clothes», «womens suits». Employees of the warehouse accustomed to much, but the only thing you can not easily apply it to outright trash and dirty underwear.

Olga 25 years, working in the warehouse for two years, says that the phone Daria gave her when she lived for a year on the street.

«At first I was unemployed and then homeless. Parents and sister do not communicate with me for many years. And at some point there was nothing to pay the rent of the room. This experience changed me, I began less to trust people, unfortunately. But just know that I can survive in almost any situation. I was in the 10% of homeless people who want to get out, trying not to give up,» — says Olga.

Work in the warehouse is heavy, but to leave a woman: «When I came here everything changed: first came shelter, then came back and interest in life. I realized that everything is getting better, and this is only the first step. Not believed to the last, because until then there was only survival, all the power went to somewhere to sleep, freshen up, eat. Now I want to develop, move forward, think about the second higher education».«The bottom I have seen.» As the homeless return to normal life

The dream team from unnecessary people

One of the features of a socially-oriented business — employment of people in difficult situation. The store cooperates with the specialized non-profit organizations and foundations and tries to give a chance to those who had refused all the others. Now with 45 employees, nine of disadvantaged groups.

«Once I spoke at a large HR forum and asked: «what if the team will work not the best of the best, and those who nobody notices? View: we took those people. And what we have achieved in three years? Received the award startups Forbes, working with 150 international companies are doing what people before us were doing in Moscow. And Yes, a quarter of our employees at the time — it’s the people you never would have taken the job. Part of the hall applauded, part — laughing,» recalls Daria.

The idea was that, after working for 6-9 months, people can return to normal life and begin the search work. As an example, Daria tells the story of a girl who worked in the warehouse, left the seller in a stationery store. Although more recently she has had children removed because she couldn’t contain.

But not all stories of socialization are similar. «You never know when a setback or progress,» says Daria.

For example, there was a woman, a graduate of the orphanage, who came to the warehouse on the recommendation of another Fund. She was asked to handle the cloth, cut things with the hardware. She refused, explaining that at the sight of the scissors she is not alone. To work failed, and soon just disappeared.«The bottom I have seen.» As the homeless return to normal life

«We were looking for a Director of warehouse, and we come to Alex — continues Daria. — He was a former employee of the Bank, who at age 28 was diagnosed with schizophrenia. The first years he patiently studied the work that we could offer him. We knew that human life evolved in a completely different trajectory, he realized how heavy it was. We have now reached the level when we need a financial Manager, and he’s doing it. This is a story about what a person is able to get back into the profession and did it with dignity,» — said Daria.

Millions on unnecessary clothes: to give or earn

«We are often asked how we differ from second-hand. In fact, we have just the product is used clothing. The owner of second-hand goods buys, sells, pays rent, and the rest is his net profit. In our case, we collect things sorted, processed and up to 80% of that goes to charity. We sell not all, only 20%.

From the fact that we sell half also goes to charity and the rest to rent, salaries, maintenance shops and warehouse development. Revenue of all shops per month — about a million rubles», — says Daria.

At some point it became clear that the Charity Shop must be the Foundation to ensure its charitable projects. Recycling old clothes is one of them. The Fund has already partners in Kineshma and Lyubertsy. Daria says that if the processing of the rent cotton, then it is profitable. If synthetics — loss. «For each kilogram of processing we lose 38 rubles. If we do 10 tons a month, it turns out a serious amount of money. But it is important for us: we want the people who donate clothes, knew what processing really is,» — says the head of the shop and the Fund.

«For the guys things change when they start to work, — continues Daria. — At first they brought food, which was taken away in the garbage at the Mall, and now eat something cooked by yourself at home. Because there was the house itself instead of the rooming house. Or the guys getting married. During these three years our team had three children.»

Employee stock Olga recalls how once met in the subway of his father, with whom I talked to in five years. «We stood looking at each other through closed doors. He didn’t smile, just raised his eyebrows in surprise. He taught me to always be prepared for the worst, and I was ready. The bottom I’ve seen, and now is the time to emerge».«The bottom I have seen.» As the homeless return to normal life
