The U.S. Senate on Monday approved a draft defense budget for the 2018 fiscal year to 692 billion.

The document was voted by the vast majority of the 100 senators. Fiscal 2018, the United States begins October 1, 2017.

Earlier, the White house requested in 2018 to the military 603 billion plus 65 billion dollars on military operations abroad. Senators eventually approved funding of nearly $ 700 billion.

The budget for 2017 amounted to 619 billion dollars.

In General, in the approved project budget, as well as in the proposals of the White house and adopted by the house of representatives the document provides a serious increase in spending on missile defense — up to $ 8.5 billion, even more than requested by the White house. These funds, in particular, is expected to increase to 28 the number of interceptor missiles located on the territory of the United States.

On the part of military assistance to Ukraine, provided $ 150 million (last year was 350 million). In this case you will have available only $ 75 million of this amount and the remaining funds should be a separate resolution of the Senate.

Also, the bill contains a promise to help Ukraine in strengthening cyber security, but without a specific commitment from the American side.

In addition, the document contains the traditional and the accusations of Russia in «invasion» in Georgia, the «annexation» of Crimea and «aggression» in Ukraine. Moscow denies such accusations.
