Almost half of Russians would vote for incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin, if presidential elections took place in late August, and 2% would be gained by the leaders of the CPRF and LDPR Gennady Zyuganov and Vladimir Zhirinovsky, according to a survey by «Levada-center».

The survey was conducted 18-22 August among 1,600 people in 48 regions of the country. The study was conducted by personal interview.

Sociologists have found that almost half of citizens (48%) would vote for Putin if elections were held next Sunday. Ten years ago this answer was given by 40%, and in August 2011 — slightly less than a quarter.

Of those respondents, who stated that he was ready to vote at the time of the survey, Putin would give his vote of 60%.

On the second and third places were Communist party leader Gennady Zyuganov and LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky (2%).
