The state Duma adopted a resolution on early release of Georgy Luntovsky from the post of member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia.

Earlier, the regulator reported that first Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Luntovsky has decided to leave his post from 1 September 2017 on their own.

The Chairman of Bank of Russia Alexander Torshin explained that the Luntovsky in 2017 year marks 60 years and he wrote a letter of resignation at own will. And as a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank can only be employee of the Central Bank, the regulator and a proposal was made to release him from this position.

Luntovsky from 1999 to 2005 he was Deputy Chairman of the CBR, and from March 16, 2005 — first Deputy head of the regulator. A member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank was appointed on 18 October 2013.

Luntovsky 12 September 2017 was elected President of the Association of Russian banks (ADB), formerly known as the Association of regional banks of Russia. Head of this structure Anatoly Aksakov was elected Chairman of the Board of the ADB.
