The Consul General of the USA in Vladivostok Michael Keyes stated that he would raise a toast to the fact that the Consulate General continued to operate in the littoral, and expressed the hope that a new period of cooperation between the two countries.

On Friday, September 22, marks 25 years since the opening of the U.S. Consulate General in Vladivostok. The first American Consul appointed to Vladivostok in 1875, and the first U.S. Consulate worked in the city until 1923. The second time the U.S. Consulate was open in 1941, during the Second world war, and operated until 1948.

«Relations between the US and Russia have experienced streaks of UPS and downs, but even in the most difficult times we have continued to seek common ground. So on September 22 I will raise a toast to the Consulate General continued to work in Vladivostok for many years, and for that we witnessed another period of cooperation, understanding and good neighborliness,» said Keyes, quoted by the Consulate General.

Earlier, Moscow has ordered to reduce the U.S. diplomatic mission in Russia to 755 to 455 employees. Thus, the Federation equated the number of employees of the U.S. Embassy in Russia, the number of employed in the Russian diplomatic mission in the United States. According to the statement of the foreign Ministry, these measures were a response to anti-Russian policy adopted by the us Congress of the new anti-Russian sanctions.
