The Eurasian economic Commission (EEC) has received from the Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS) of Russia for the coordination of materials for smartphones Philips in the countries of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU), is conducting the investigation, said at the plenary session of the «Week of the competition,» Minister for competition and antitrust regulation of the EEC, Marat Kusainov.

According to him, the EEC in 2016-2017 reviewed the 16 statements about the violation of the General rules of competition received from market participants and the authorities of the member States of the Union. «Following the results of consideration of applications, as well as on their own initiative on the basis of the collected materials and research cross-border markets Commission initiated 10 investigations on the grounds of anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position and unfair competition,» — said Kusainov.

«So investigations are ongoing into cross-border markets of railway wheels and concrete sleepers, freight and passenger cars, buses, structural steel, cell phones recently these materials handed over to us FAS Philips,» — said the EEC Minister.

In June, the Deputy head of FAS Andrey Tsarikovsky has informed in interview to RIA Novosti that he sees the reasons for initiation of proceedings against Philips for the coordination of the prices of the smartphones in the markets of the EAEU, the service planned to transfer the results of its own checks across Russia to the Antimonopoly body of the EEC.

In December 2016, the FAS has written to the LG, Alcatel, Sony and Asus requests in connection with complaints of price collusion on smartphones these manufacturers in Russia. It also conducted check prices on Samsung smartphones. In mid-February, the Department reported that did not reveal violations in the analysis of pricing for smartphones, Samsung, Alcatel, Sony and Asus. Concerning LG, the FAS case was filed.
