U.S. Ambassador to Moscow John Tefft, who is completing his mission in Russia, said he will leave the country in a week.

«After about a week we’ll leave Russia,» he said in an interview published on the Facebook page of the American Embassy in Moscow.

The diplomat admitted that the work in Russia «in many respects was not easy, but gave us a lot of amazing experiences, good friends and acquaintances».

«We will miss all those variety of relationships that we developed with the Russians across the country. It will be our warmest memories of those years in Russia,» — said Tefft.

The American side is planning to replace its Ambassador in Moscow John Tefft. The President of the United States Donald trump in mid-July, proposed the candidacy of Jon Huntsman as Ambassador to Russia. Now his candidacy must be approved by the U.S. Senate. The Russian authorities have given prior consent (agrément) to work Huntsman in Moscow.
