Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Gennady Gatilov can hold the office of Russia’s permanent representative to the UN office and other international organizations in Geneva, reports the newspaper «Kommersant», citing two sources familiar with the situation.

Gatilov Deputy foreign Minister of Russia since 2011. As noted on the website of the Ministry of foreign Affairs, he oversees a wide range of issues in multilateral diplomacy related to Russia’s participation in UN specialized organizations of its system, covering activities in the field of international economic, environmental, humanitarian cooperation and human rights. Engaged in issues of UNESCO, intergovernmental cooperation in sport, tourism and culture.

Now the position of Russia’s permanent representative to the UN is Aleksey Borodavkin, who, according to «Kommersant», will be offered the post of Ambassador of Russia in Kazakhstan.

The newspaper notes that the current Russian Ambassador in Astana to Michael Bocharnikov will soon turn 70 years is the age limit for civil servants.
