Putin dismissed the Governor of the Samara region

Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Samara region Governor Nikolay Merkushkin, the press service of the Kremlin.

Merkushin left the post at his own request, he was head of the Samara oblast since 2012. Today the President appointed merkoushkin his special representative for cooperation with the world Congress of Finno-Ugric peoples.

Acting Governor of the region was Dmitry Azarov. The President had a working meeting with Azarov, during which he announced the decision.

Dmitry Azarov’s in 2010-2014, he held the position of mayor of Samara, in 2014, became a Senator from the Samara region.

Earlier media wrote that in the beginning of the week the heads of several Russian regions may early retire.
