Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO) Igor Koshin told RIA Novosti that continues to operate in normal mode, and the rumors about the resignation communicates with unpopular economic decisions that had to be taken to restart the economy of the region after the fall of oil prices.

Earlier media reported that at the beginning of this week can happen early retirement of the heads of several Russian regions. Among the regions that, according to media reports, may be subject to personnel changes, called Ivanovo, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Murmansk, Novosibirsk, Omsk oblast, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoyarsk and Altai Krai.

«The reason for the rumors about the resignation was the unpopularity of the economic reforms, which are superimposed on the fall of the region’s income by a third. In 2016, the NAO has not received 5 billion rubles due to the fall in oil prices,» said Koshin.

In his opinion, the basis for any structural changes are unpopular decisions that break the habitual way people. «Nobody likes reforms, but still want to use their results. In real life, for these results takes time,» — said the head of the region.

Koshin said that three years have passed since the election, and now the first results reboot the economy of the region. «Companies, even the state, began to work «in the market» to upgrade vehicle fleet, to build new facilities — farm slaughter points. There was a layer of young entrepreneurs, including in rural areas. We have significantly reduced the number of officials. The savings amounted to more than 350 million rubles — is the cost of the construction of a kindergarten,» — said the Governor.

The Governor is confident that the region is on the right track of development as evidenced by the numbers, including the influx of investment, the volume of new housing, the resumption of construction of roads and indicators for farmers.

«My goal is to make the region economically sustainable to the changes in the market of hydrocarbons. But any reform is a way out of their comfort zone. Especially when that comfort was formed in the period of high oil prices and the district lived with billions in account balances,» added the Governor.
