Vladimir Putin was appointed acting Governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov. This was reported on the Kremlin website.

The President had a meeting with Azarov, in which he announced the decision.

Policy in 2010-2014 was held a post of the mayor of Samara and in 2014 took place in the Council of Federation from the Samara region.

Nikolay Merkushkin who held the post since 2012, has resigned at his own request and was appointed special representative of the head of the Russian Federation for cooperation with the world Congress of Finno-Ugric peoples.
