John Tefft completes service in Russia

U.S. Ambassador John Tefft completes his service in Russia, Thursday morning he flies from Moscow, told RIA Novosti in the American Embassy.

«He’s leaving this morning», — said the press service of the Embassy.

John Tefft worked for three years in Russia as U.S. Ambassador. In this position, he was replaced by Michael McFaul.

Tefft — career diplomat, he worked in various positions in the state Department for 45 years. As he himself admitted earlier, on the expiry of his mission in Moscow, he and his wife Mariella retire.

As expected, the next head of the US diplomatic mission in the Russian Federation may be John huntsman. The President of the United States Donald trump in mid-July, he nominated Huntsman for Ambassador to Russia. After unanimous approval in the U.S. Senate Committee on foreign Affairs, his candidacy was submitted for approval to the Senate. The Russian authorities have given prior consent (agrément) to work Huntsman in Moscow.

Moscow expects that with the arrival of new U.S. Ambassador to Russia, the parties will begin «to clean up the mess» the problems accumulated in bilateral relations, said earlier, Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
