In the print service of the Holy see refused to comment on the proposal of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who on Thursday urged the government to consider the possibility of holding in Minsk another meeting of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill and Pope Francis.

«No comment,» — said in this regard, RIA Novosti the representative of the Vatican press office.

Earlier at a meeting with participants of the Minsk plenary meeting of the Council of Episcopal conferences of Europe, Lukashenko urged them to consider the possibility of a meeting between the heads of the two largest Christian churches in the Belarusian capital, which he called «a place to discuss problems and West and East, North and South, and throughout the world.»

The idea of such a meeting Lukashenko put forward in may last year during his visit to the Vatican.

Historic meeting Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill, the results of which a Joint statement was adopted, took place on 12 February 2016 in Havana. A meeting of this level was the first in the history of relations between the two churches.
