In Kyrgyzstan detained the Deputy, the suspect in the attempted seizure of power

The state Committee of national security of Kyrgyzstan detained the Deputy of Parliament of Republic on suspicion in the organization of the seizure of power in the country in case of losing the presidential election candidate, Omurbek Babanov, said on Saturday the press service of the national security Committee.

The presidential term of incumbent President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev ends on 1 December this year and, according to the Constitution, he cannot re-run for President. Elections are scheduled for October 15. In the presidential race are currently 12 officially registered candidates from 59 declared intention to become President. Ex-Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov is one of the strongest contenders the presidential candidate of the party of the social democratic party of Sooronbay Zheenbekov, whom the media called the successor state.

«Thirtieth day of September in the framework of the General Prosecutor’s office instituted criminal proceedings against a Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh (the Kyrgyz Parliament – ed.) and others on the fact of preparation of mass riots and violent seizure of power detained the Deputy Isaev Kanatbek, as well as individual members of organized criminal groups,» reports the national security Committee.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case against the MP Kanatbek Isayev, who was allegedly preparing a violent seizure of power in case of loss, at the election of the presidential candidate Omurbek Babanov. The case was brought on signs of the crimes provided by articles 27 (preparation of a crime), 233 (mass disorder) and 295 (violent capture power or violent deduction power) of the Criminal code of Kyrgyzstan.

The Prosecutor’s office claims that «Isaev, a supporter of a candidate for the office of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Babanov, entered into a preliminary agreement with certain persons, including representatives of organized criminal groups, carry out active actions aimed at organizing mass riots in the event of a loss,» Babanov elections. And supporters Babanov was prepared in advance «provocation followed by escalation in riots and armed clashes».

The press service of the national security Committee noted that the materials of the criminal case, it is clear that «participation in mass riots Isaev directly transferred large amount of money to members of organized crime» to attempt armed seizure of power and the destabilization of the situation in the country.
