Archaeologists and linguists have deciphered the mysterious text on a stone tablet found in Western Turkey in the late 19th century, and found that it tells about the fall of the Hittite Empire and the first «real» Trojan war, according to Live Science.

This mysterious inscription, we are told by scientists, was found by Turkish peasants in 1878 near the village Baka in Western Turkey. When this stone tablet was dug out of the Ground, it attracted the attention of the French archaeologist Georges Perrot (Georges Perrot), who managed to gain access to the stele and copy text that is embossed on it.

Later this stone column suffered the fate of many other artifacts from the Middle East – the peasants smashed it to pieces and used as the Foundation for the construction of new mosques. The absence of the original, and a very small number of copies of this text extant, often makes historians are very skeptical of statements about new versions of this manuscript.

The problem is that this text, despite its wide popularity, is written in a very rare and almost unexplored Luwian language. It said the people of the Hittite Kingdom, one of the «superpowers» of the bronze age that existed on the territory of southern Turkey and Northern Mesopotamia in the second-first Millennium BC. Until the mid 20th century, this language no one understood, and so today, scientists cannot accurately say whether the artifact from Bakea or copies fakes or real historical documents.

It tells the Eberhard Zangger (Eberhard Zangger), historian of Switzerland, a few years ago he received a copy of this text from son James Mellaart (James Melaart), one of the best-known British archaeologists and experts in history of Asia Minor the ancient period.

When Mellaart died in 2012, his son Alan accidentally found in his house a copy of the text from the stele in Bakee which he gave to the Zangger and Fred Woudhuizen, the linguist who knows the Luwian language. When the scientists read the text, they suddenly discovered that he was associated with other known «power center» of the time, the famous Troy, and the mysterious «sea peoples».

In this manuscript, as told by scientists, is a story about the formation of the Kingdom under the name of the World that existed at that time in Western Turkey and fought with the Hittite Kingdom for control over southern Turkey and the basis of Ashkelon, the Israeli city that was then a major trading centre and strategically important stronghold in the middle East.

Scientists believe that these «invaders» entered the history of other ancient countries, under the name «peoples of the sea» – a mysterious group of ancient people, whose raids devastated Ancient Egypt, Crete, Mycenaean Greece, the Hittite Empire, and supposedly caused a cultural and economic collapse known as «the catastrophe of the bronze age». The article arguments in favor of this hypothesis, as noted by the archaeologists, has already been accepted for publication in the journal Proceedings of the Dutch Archaeological and Historical Society and will be released in print until the end of the year.
