The ex-Minister of culture of France Audrey Azul, elected on Friday to the post of Director-General of UNESCO, called upon countries members of the organization to reform it, but not to leave.

On the eve of the US said the decision to withdraw from UNESCO. The country will remain a member of this international organization until December 31, 2018, and 2019 will be in observer status. Following this, about his intention to leave the organization declared Israel. News of the U.S. withdrawal and about the plans of Israel came at a time when Paris is 202 session of the UNESCO Executive Board.

«I think that in this time of crisis we need more than ever to be involved in UNESCO, to support her, to think about how to reform it, but to come out of it,» said Azul.
