Stavropol regional court upheld the elected in absentia preventive measure in the form of detention of former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, stated in the message of the court.

In March a court in Yessentuki in absentia arrested Yatsenyuk, accused of banditry. In respect of ex-Premier in absentia preventive measure in form of detention in connection with the fact that he on February 21 was declared wanted.

«On Tuesday the Stavropol regional court considered the appeal of counsel sabinina to protect the interests of the accused Yatsenyuk on the resolution of the Essentuki city court of Stavropol territory on March 9, 2017. Upon consideration decided to leave the decision of the Essentuki city court of Stavropol territory on March 9, 2017 without changes», — stated in the message.

Earlier, the head of the RF IC Alexander Bastrykin has told about a number of Ukrainian officials, who in Russia are accused of involvement in the crimes committed against servicemen of the Russian armed forces and internal troops in the counter-terrorist operation in the Chechen Republic in the period 1994-1995. According to him, the investigation established that during these years as part of the punitive group «Argo», and then «Viking» under the leadership of Alexander Muzychko against servicemen of the Russian Armed forces fought and Yatsenyuk.
