Russia’s envoy in the contact group on Ukraine, Boris Gryzlov called the half-measure extension of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the law on the status of Donbass.

«Today, the special status of local self-governance for certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions extended only for a year. It is clear that it is better than nothing. Let me remind you, according to the Minsk agreements, approved by the UN resolution, the law on the special status of Donbass should contain a provision on entry into force, on a permanent basis after the elections in the DNI and LC. However, nothing like the new Ukrainian legislation does not. However, this half-measure has allowed to keep Kiev from the Minsk process and to continue the dialogue aimed at peaceful settlement of the conflict», — said Gryzlov talks on Wednesday in Minsk.

The law, which proposes to extend the year the special status of Donbass entered into force on 10 October. The document was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, as amended, the President of the editorial Board. The act specifies that the special status for the region will come into force after the fulfillment of certain conditions, in particular the withdrawal of «illegal armed groups» from these territories.

Representative of Kiev in the political sub-group on Donbass the speaker later expressed the opinion that the decision to extend the special status of the region was right, but the law will not take effect.Gryzlov called for an extension of the law on the status of Donbass palliativeThe implementation of the Minsk agreements
