Prime Minister Shinzo Abe demanded that China, South Korea and ASEAN countries to lift the ban on import of Japanese products, which was introduced because of an accident at a nuclear power plant «Fukushima-1» in 2011.

«Coincidentally, it took more than six years since a powerful earthquake in the East. I urge a ban on the import of Japanese products was withdrawn on the basis of scientific conclusions,» Abe said at the summit, ASEAN+3, Manila.

On 11 March 2011 North-East Japan earthquake with magnitude 9.0, which received the official name «Great earthquake East of Japan». The earthquake of such force, according to scientists, is happening in this country not more than once in 600 years. The disaster has led to severe accidents at Japanese nuclear power plant «Fukushima».

The accident at the NPP «Fukushima-1″was the largest in 25 years after the Chernobyl disaster. There have been leaks of radiation in the atmosphere and sea water.

After the accident, a number of countries, including South Korea, China, Singapore have banned or imposed restrictions on import of fish, food and agricultural products from the Japanese prefectures affected by radiation leaks.
