Institute of public health of Serbia recorded 65 cases of measles, which include deaths, said on Tuesday morning the Federal service.

«Since the beginning of October 2017, the situation of measles deteriorated in Serbia: according to the Institute of public health of Serbia registered 65 cases of measles, which include deaths, the incidence recorded in Belgrade, Kraljevo, Bujanovac and Kosovo», — stated in the message.

It is noted that most sick people who are not vaccinated against measles, refused vaccination.

Serbian medical organizations have received from the who order in the shortest possible time to carry out additional vaccination to increase the population coverage to 95%, and also to engage in advocacy about possible complications of the disease.

The CPS notes that the situation of measles in Europe remains tense. According to who, in 2016-2017 continue to record measles outbreak in Romania – about 5 thousand cases in Italy – more than 4.8 thousand, in Ukraine – more than 1.6 thousand, as well as in several other countries. Only in 2017 was 30 deaths from measles.

Regularly registered cases of importation of the infection into the territory of Russia from Europe.

«Federal service for supervision of consumer rights protection and human welfare recommends that when planning trips to foreign countries, including to Serbia nationals who are not vaccinated against measles and have not had measles to be vaccinated against this infection», — reports the Agency.
