The head of the Church of England the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will visit the Russian capital from November 20 to November 22, told RIA Novosti at the British Embassy in Moscow.

«From 20 to 22 November 2017 will arrive in Moscow by the Archbishop of Canterbury. His visit would be pastoral, Ecumenical and political nature», — said the employee of the guardian.

According to him, in Moscow, the Archbishop will visit the Anglican Church of St Andrew. The Church was built for the Anglican community in Moscow in the late nineteenth century and has now become an international centre of Anglicanism in Moscow, open to all English-speaking followers. The Church is also the center of Moscow Dacosta and conducts many social and cultural events and programs.

The Embassy pointed out that «the official meeting of the Archbishop with the Patriarch will be held on Tuesday, November 21».

According to the British side, the meeting will be a logical continuation of Patriarch Kirill’s visit to London in 2016, in which the head of the Russian Orthodox Church called for Lamberski Palace and, accompanied by Archbishop Welby met the Queen in Buckingham Palace.

In addition, the Archbishop of Canterbury will meet with Metropolitan Hilarion, Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, as well as visit the post-graduate and doctoral im. saints Cyril and Methodius – a higher educational institution under Patriarchy, providing graduate theological education.

Patriarch Kirill was in the UK with his first visit from 15 to 18 October 2016, the trip is timed to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the presence of the Russian Orthodox Church in the British Isles.
