U.S. imposing sanctions against Moscow, unequivocally declare Russia an enemy, says Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The US President Donald trump on 2 August signed a law «On combating the enemies of America through sanctions» against Russia, Iran and North Korea. According to the «guidelines for the application of sanctions» from the us Department of state, at the expiration of the statutory 180-day period, that is, by the end of January 2018, the US administration will be able to apply extraterritorial U.S. sanctions against legal entities and individuals, including from third countries that cooperate with Russian organizations included in the sanctions lists.

«I well remember the situation that was in our relationship in the late 70’s-early 80-ies. I, frankly, not sure if our relationship was worse. Because there was no laws that are called laws on the distribution of sanctions on States that are enemies of the United States. Such a law is now valid,» said Medvedev, answering questions of journalists in Manila.

«US calls us to active engagement on a number of the most complex global issues: the fight against terrorism or in the resolution of the situation on the Korean Peninsula. And on the other hand such decisions (sanctions – ed.) we declare very clearly not only his opponents, and, in fact, enemies. It is at least inconsistent position,» — said Medvedev.
