U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson will meet Tuesday in Manila to the actual civil leader of Myanmar, and Nobel peace prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, officials said.

Tillerson and the leader of Myanmar are in the Manila ASEAN summit.

Earlier, Tillerson spoke with Aung San Suu Kyi on the telephone regarding the crisis, he also discussed this issue with commander of the armed forces of Myanmar Min Aung, Hlina. Tillerson also plans on 15 November to visit Myanmar to discuss the issue with leaders of the country.

The meeting comes amid humanitarian crisis in Myanmar-Rakhine state. Myanmar troops and security forces launched an operation against Islamist militants belonging to the ethnic Rohingya. Since the end of August in Bangladesh fled hundreds of thousands of Rohingya. US urge Myanmar authorities to ensure the return of refugees, the investigation of alleged crimes against Rohingya and humanitarian access to the region.
