Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan abducted in 1995, and then found and restored a painting by Vrubel’s «angel with the soul of Tamara and the Demon».

The heads of state visited the Tretyakov gallery after the official talks.

Watercolor «angel with the soul of Tamara and the Demon» is a series of illustrations to the poem by Mikhail Lermontov «Demon». This work was included in the collection of Professor Abramian, on its basis was founded the Museum of Russian art in Yerevan, which became known as the «small Tretyakov gallery».

In 1995 the painting was stolen from the Museum, and over 20 years it was not known. During this time, the figure has undergone significant destruction. Law enforcement found the work of the artist and gave it to the Tretyakov gallery for restoration, where experts assembled picture literally bit by bit.
