The period from idea to its implementation in medical practice must be reduced in two times — up to 4.5-5 years, said Minister of health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova at the opening of the III National Congress on regenerative medicine.

Skvortsova said that Russian healthcare is the task of the «approximately two times to reduce the innovation chain for the duration and to make from idea, development to implementation in medical practice, it took us no more than 4.5-5 years is an ambitious goal, but it is solved», — said the Minister.

Skvortsova recalled that the Ministry of health is working interdepartmental scientific Council, which includes all agencies that regulate research in the field of Biomedicine. In General, interagency system active representatives of FANO, Russian Academy of Sciences, Ministry of education and science, the Ministry of industry and trade.

«Our goal is to unite all the major players who are interested in Biomedicine in order to help quickly pass the path from knowledge to realization of this knowledge in specific product,» she said.

The Minister noted that over the 2-3 years in Russia the number of solutions in the field of regenerative medicine that have not yet introduced into clinical practice.

For instance, Russian scientists have created stem cells for restoration of defects of different areas of the brain (cells confirmed the efficiency of the animal), created by layered leather, which corresponds to the structure of human skin created by the cartilage tissue of the person.

Also among the developments — insulinproducing cells, which in the future will be a worthy replacement of insulin therapy. The Minister said that the experiment is ready for transition to the formation of autologous organs, there are several production sites in Russia, which deal with biodegradable materials. But there is, in her words, complexity: in Russia there is no technology «time-controlled biodegradation», which would set the rate of biodegradation.

Also Skvortsova said that Russia already has prototyping: not only 3D-printing, there is the possibility of forming a three dimensional matrix.

In the III National Congress on regenerative medicine involves more than thousands of scientists from 15 countries including CIS, USA, Germany, Italy, UK, Austria. At the opening ceremony were also made by the rector of Moscow state University Viktor Sadovnichy.
