Germany is very interested in dialogue with Russia in various fields, both in the sphere of civil society and at the highest political level, said at a briefing the official representative of the government of Germany Steffen Seibert.

«We are very interested in dialogue with Russia in various fields, including in the sphere of civil society, including dialogue that exists at the highest political level,» said Seibert.

«We have reasons for concern, reasons for direct criticism, we talked about this, commenting on the illegal actions (of Russia), but we also see that Russia plays a very important role for the stability of Europe and for the solution of many international calls, a country to which Germany is committed», he added.

The state Duma on Wednesday adopted a law according to which foreign media receiving funding from abroad, can be recognized in the Russian «foreign agent». The decision about which media will be categorized as foreign agents, will be taken by the Ministry of justice. This law will be sent for consideration to the Federation Council. Amendments to the status of the media-foreign agents was introduced in the second reading and become a forced response to the oppression of the Russian media in USA and, in particular, the recognition of RT America as a foreign agent.

Seibert expressed the hope that the German state broadcaster Deutsche Welle will be able to continue working in Russia.
