Authorities of Karelia have still not managed to change for the better a negative situation associated with leaving the region of the population, not satisfied with quality of life, said the Secretary of the Russian security Council Nikolai Patrushev, who heads the state Commission on preparation for celebrating the upcoming year of 2020 the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Karelia.

Patrushev on Friday in Petrozavodsk made by the state Commission. In particular, he spoke about the current socio-economic situation in the Republic.

«Despite prior efforts, there continues to still the outflow of the population. Your churn more associated with dissatisfaction of the population quality of life and accessibility of social services, the challenging financial situation», — said Patrushev.

«The government of the Republic has not managed to reverse the negative trend,» he said.

According to Patrushev, social projects were implemented, but with great difficulty.

The state Commission on preparation for celebrating the upcoming 2020 centennial anniversary of education of the Republic of Karelia was founded in 2013 by presidential decree. The work of the state Commission is aimed at creating conditions for advancing social and economic development of Karelia, increase of level and quality of life of the population, including by creating a favourable investment climate, development of public-private partnerships.

In addition, priority activities of the state Commission is to coordinate Federal Executive authorities and Executive authorities of the Republic of Karelia carrying out in the region for effective socio-economic, industrial, scientific-technological and innovation policy.
