About 91% of Russians today secured safe to drink drinking water, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.

«The provision of water that meets the safety requirements (for the last five years – ed.) grew by 4%, and in 2017 already accounts for nearly 91% of the population. It is very good dynamics», — said Popov on the Congress of hygienists and sanitary doctors in Moscow on Friday.

According to the head of the Supervisory authority, improving the quality and safety of drinking water has reduced since 2012, more than 5% of the additional deaths and nearly 10% of cases of illness associated with microbial and chemical pollution.

She also noted that «by the end of 2016 and the results of the expired period 2017 80% of all outbreaks related to the pathogens that cause disease through water or through food… – viral».
