The traces of two isotopes of xenon, discovered by Soviet scientists in the area of Cherepovets immediately after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, saying that the first flash of light at the nuclear plant was caused by a nuclear, not a conventional explosion, says Swedish scientist in an article published in the journal Nuclear Technology.

«We assume that nuclear explosions caused by thermal neutrons at the bottom of the fuel channels has created a powerful jet of molten fuel and matter the reactor, looking up. They struck the 350-pound «lid» of the channels, pierced the roof of the reactor and climbed to an altitude of 3 kilometers, where they caught the wind and brought to Cherepovets. The accident at the fourth unit of the Chernobyl NPP occurred in the night from 25 to 26 April 1986 when the personnel of the nuclear plant conducted an experiment in which the rotational energy of the turbine shut-down reactor has been used for its cooling and power systems security, defending the unit against the development of uncontrolled chain reactions.

The beginning of these experiments was postponed several times after the stop of the fourth unit, which, coupled with certain design features of the RBMK reactors, led to the fact that on April 26 at 01 hour 24 minutes an uncontrolled increase in the power. It led to the explosions, the destruction of a considerable part of the reactor installation and the release of huge amounts of radioactive substances.

According to eyewitnesses, says de Geer, «hour IKS» for the fourth unit have been at least two powerful explosions, separated from each other by several seconds. Today according to scientists and historians, both of the explosion was non-nuclear in nature and were associated with water and its circulation.

In their opinion, the first explosion occurred in the result of a sudden increase in reactor power has led to the fact that the water in the cooling system almost instantly evaporate, which dramatically increased the pressure in the pipes and led to their breakup. The steam began to interact with a zirconium shell of fuel elements, which led to the release of huge quantities of hydrogen in the reactor hall and the second, more powerful explosion.

De Geer and his colleagues came to the conclusion that the first explosion was of an entirely different nature, analyzing the data that were collected for European and Soviet scientists immediately after the Chernobyl accident.

This time, in turn, indicates an extremely unusual thing – the xenon isotopes could fall in the area of Cherepovets in 3-4 days only if they have been thrown to a height of approximately 2-3 kilometers from the Earth’s surface. To such a height, as scientists believe, they could throw only a small nuclear explosion with a capacity of 75 tons of TNT equivalent, occurred in two or three fuel elements of nuclear power plant due to a sharp rise in temperature in them.

In the birth of this explosion has played a special role bubbles of steam that occurred in boiling water in the lower part of the reactor. These areas of emptiness, as the researchers note, played the role of a amplifiers in a chain reaction, as they do not interfere with the flow of neutrons and accelerated, not slowed, the heating of the fuel and contributed to the formation of large quantities of steam.

This is supported by the fact that only some regions of the lower «lid» of the reactor was melted, neither was a steam explosion or any other event, say Swedish of physics, could not cause such damage, whereas a jet of hot plasma emitted by a nuclear explosion, they could cause.

There is other evidence of this seismic station in the noryns’k and other cities nearby have recorded weak tremors for three seconds before the accident, equivalent in strength to the bomb with a capacity of 225 tons of TNT.
