False reports of explosive devices in the course of the motorcade of Russian President Vladimir Putin explained the attempt to destabilize the situation before elections, said RIA Novosti on Saturday, the first Deputy head of the international Committee of the Federation Council, the FSB General Vladimir Jabbarov.

Earlier, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov reported about 60 calls, received on Friday; the caller said about 50 bombs planted along the route of the presidential motorcade and objects near the places that were supposed to visit the President in St. Petersburg. Peskov added that «it was made from abroad».

«Links in a chain of telephone terrorism, attempts to destabilize the situation in the country before the election, to stir up the mood in society. But the effect of these actions will be counterproductive,» — said dzhabarov.

The MP stressed that the state Duma discussed the legislative initiative about toughening of responsibility for telephone terrorists. «Criminal cases, the investigation of these facts, the sources are often found overseas,» he said.

According to dzhabarov, security services, law enforcement agencies are monitoring the situation. Any message that may threaten the head of state, should be investigated and the presidential security service, said the MP.

He noted that «telephone terrorism, all the false reports of bomb scare in General interfere with the life of the country, peaceful life of our citizens.»

A wave of telephone terrorism began in Russia on September 11. In the two months since the beginning of mass calls about the alleged bombs in 186 cities across the country was evacuated more than 2.3 million people, including more than a quarter of a million people in Moscow. In any case, the bomb threat was not confirmed. According to the Moscow Department of the FSB, a wave of anonymous calls covered 75 of the 85 regions of Russia. About 600 of these messages was in Moscow, nearly 100 in the Moscow region. According to the FSB, in Moscow alone, the damage from «mining» amounted to 150 million rubles.

Regular elections of the President of Russia will be held in March 2018, the campaign is supposed to start in December 2017.
