The Russian military historical society (RVIA) has denied mass media reports about the possible re-installation of a memorial plaque to Finnish Marshal Carl Mannerheim in St. Petersburg, told reporters the Executive Director of RVIO Vladislav Kononov.

Earlier, several media outlets published information that a plaque Mannerheim can re-install in Petersburg December 6, the day of the centenary of the independence of Finland.

«We have this story. Society (RVIO) is not very ready for that… Now the Board (memory Mannerheim), which was installed (two years ago), is as a Museum exhibit in the chamber of arms,» — said Kononov.

In St. Petersburg on Saturday held a solemn ceremony dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the establishment of the Imperial Russian military historical society, the successor of which is recreated in 2012, the RVIA.

In 2016 there was a scandal in connection with the installation on the facade of the Military Academy of logistics of the memorial plaque in honour of Mannerheim. This caused a great public outcry because of the ambiguity of the personality of Marshal disgruntled few times poured a paint Board and caused damage.
