The teacher of the program «Special child» for «Children’s University» Elena klimkina for five years by a music ensemble of children with autism and down’s syndrome «Zabavushka». The backbone of the team are children from 10 to 15 years, they act with their parents and the teacher.

This can be seen because the ensemble performs exercises under negative – children with their parents singing at rehearsals and almost never need prompts and adult assistance during moves on the makeshift stage. According to parents, 5 years ago, their children are almost silent and this is the song taught them to speak.

Didn’t think daughter will be singing on stage

Ksenia age of 13. She has down syndrome. On the rehearsal of the ensemble on the girl hard to ignore, especially when the teacher practicing with each child individually. Ksyusha can’t wait for their turn, all the while asking to see how she performs the task on the pre-chorus. Xenia helps to warm up and to his colleagues in the ensemble.

Mom Ksenia Irina Stepanova says that bring your daughter to the ensemble, just to teach the girl to speak. Then singing for Susie and her mother became a constant companion of life.

«We eat, live, sleep, eat, listen to music. It gives us strength, confidence and happiness», — said Irina.

Xenia for five years in the ensemble, goes to the rehearsal of Azov. During this time she and her team managed to perform at the international festival «do Good» in Tula to go to concerts all corners of the Rostov region, and also to sing dozens of songs on city and regional holidays. The ensemble is a welcome guest in concerts of different level, in children’s homes and Palaces of culture.

Ksyusha began to sing and to speak, not without pride, says her mother. Five years ago, she did not believe the words of the teacher Elena Klimkina, which claimed that She would sing ditties. According to the Director of the ensemble Klimkina, before the little ensemble members could learn one song a year now with just a few rehearsals to remember movements and words. Parents are now thinking about themselves not to forget the words and not to let down the team.

Inna Volodina – candidate of psychological Sciences, she heads the Department of inclusive education at DSTU. In DSTU there are about 100 students – mostly boys with visual impairment, hearing, problems in the musculoskeletal system, but has no features of mental development. She notes that children with autism are potentially much better adapted to the exam. Despite the large number of successful cases of employment of children with autism in the world, in Russia such statistics is still in its infancy.

Until recently in Russia the diagnosis «autism» didn’t exist in people after they reach adulthood. The Ministry of education of the Rostov region, the Agency reported that in 58 educational institutions in the region for 52 areas enrolled about 400 students with disabilities and the limited possibilities of health. In 2017, students enrolled 125 children. Graduated from educational institutions in 2017 81 people, 23 of them graduate already employed for 39 former students of the colleges still are working to find employment.
