Children’s «University» (for «students» from 5 years) when you support the don state technical University the first in Russia began teaching children with disabilities. The project «Special child» is implementing a program of additional education for children with speech disorders, delayed mental and physical development, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, as well as suffering from autistic spectrum disorder and down syndrome.

The minimum age limit in the program of training of special children, no. No standard school or University subjects.

Now in the Children’s «University» study 50 children with disabilities. The RIA Novosti correspondent visited a few classes in the new program, communicated with parents of special children, and also found out why a long time the diagnosis of «autism» in Russia becoming the only person under the age of majority.

We do not learn to draw, and to feel

«Today you have worked very well. Now we will have an exhibition of drawings, we will admire» — said to his pupils (11-13 years) teacher of the program «I am an artist» Svetlana Bakunova. In the group of Svetlana – children with autism spectrum disorder.

The teacher lays out drawings and invites children with their parents on an impromptu exhibition of paintings. Their pictures tell the story the authors themselves:

«What is it?» The «tree». «What is a tree?» — «Hazel». – «And this is hazel what’s the mood?» — «Pyatnickoe mood».

The parents of the new «students» not observing the lessons, they are involved in the process with their children and likewise, perform all the tasks of the teacher.

«Children are imitative beings, and they imitate significant adults. If the mother to relax and she will learn to work creatively, the child Willy-nilly, to join her. For children is an important process, a deep regard acquiring own experience,» said Svetlana Bakunova.

Svetlana teaches to draw their students. In children with autism, according to the teacher, you need to include sensitive component, so they can go ahead and create in your mind a certain image. Art begins with the senses, said the teacher.

«For them, this is the first stage of the creative process to experiment with different materials, we should all try to enjoy all possible options. Surprise – the first step to creativity. Surprise, inspiration, and, God forbid, then comes inspiration,» says the teacher.

Svetlana teaches his disciples phased drawing, only some of the reference drawings, diagrams, tips. This time the example of drawings of nature for the students was the painting of Isaac Levitan «Golden autumn». To guide all children were one piece, but no similar work in the class of Svetlana can not find work.

«Children from the older group (14-16) years, all want to be artists. Our challenge is to reach the level of pre-professional training. A big challenge in our country – prerealease, the opportunity for these children to continue vocational education. The Department of design DSTU is very open to us,» — says Svetlana about the prospects of his disciples to become students of higher educational institutions.

The ensemble of «solar» children

The teacher of the program «Special child» for «Children’s University» Elena klimkina for five years by a music ensemble of children with autism and down’s syndrome «Zabavushka». The backbone of the team are children from 10 to 15 years, they act with their parents and the teacher.

Band rehearsals combined with studies of logarithmical. This subject teaches Elena special children in the «Children’s University».

«Logaritmica is built on three pillars: music, speech, movement. Thanks to her we can develop children’s optical-spatial orientation, overall coordination, to develop fine motor skills, fingers, phonemic hearing, speech, because we have many children bezrucovy come. We use a folklore, different songs, nursery rhymes, games,», says Klimkin.

Classes logaritmica she is very versatile. Briefly they can be described as follows: the teacher includes the song, and the kids in the movement are trying to perform actions which it is sung. On the same principle, the students play in the classroom, illustrating almost every action gestures and emotions.

«Stand in a circle, musical instrument we have in the left hand, hit on palm. Keep your hands above your head. Now put the tool in your right hand. Well done, circling to the other side. Marching: one, two, three, four, stamped. And now Pat. Let’s remember how weaves cobweb spider…», — of these mini-parts is the lesson, the team of Helen accompanied by folk music. Parents literally support children and help them to do all the exercises – periodically raise the feet of the guys walking, run their hands along with them to say the words of the songs.

Band rehearsals are constructed in the same way. However, in contrast to the students «Children’s University», which only get used to such things, members of the ensemble in this way for 5 years working with Klimkina, so I feel more comfortable in such conditions. This can be seen because the ensemble performs exercises under negative – children with their parents singing at rehearsals and almost never need prompts and adult assistance during moves on the makeshift stage. According to parents, 5 years ago, their children are almost silent and this is the song taught them to speak.

Didn’t think daughter will be singing on stage

Ksenia age of 13. She has down syndrome. On the rehearsal of the ensemble on the girl hard to ignore, especially when the teacher practicing with each child individually. Ksyusha can’t wait for their turn, all the while asking to see how she performs the task on the pre-chorus. Xenia helps to warm up and to his colleagues in the ensemble.

Mom Ksenia Irina Stepanova says that bring your daughter to the ensemble, just to teach the girl to speak. Then singing for Susie and her mother became a constant companion of life.

«We eat, live, sleep, eat, listen to music. It gives us strength, confidence and happiness», — said Irina.

Xenia for five years in the ensemble, goes to the rehearsal of Azov. During this time she and her team managed to perform at the international festival «do Good» in Tula to go to concerts all corners of the Rostov region, and also to sing dozens of songs on city and regional holidays. The ensemble is a welcome guest in concerts of different level, in children’s homes and Palaces of culture.

Ksyusha began to sing and to speak, not without pride, says her mother. Five years ago, she did not believe the words of the teacher Elena Klimkina, which claimed that She would sing ditties. Now the repertoire of the ensemble does not show for several hours of continuous performances. Now parents who come to concerts with them, try not to forget the words to the songs, and children increasingly take the role of prompter for adult members of the team.

«I never would have thought that She will sing on stage, this step we have already overcome. The first lesson we just taught the children to hold hands, circle dances. Now we come out to practice, we come not just to play, and come to work 1.5 hours without rest. Now we sing everywhere: on the street, bus, shop…», — says Irina.

According to the Director of the ensemble Klimkina, before the little ensemble members could learn one song a year now with just a few rehearsals to remember movements and words. Parents are now thinking about themselves not to forget the words and not to let down the team.

According to parents, at rehearsals, their children can afford to have fun, to forget the words, distracted by something, but the arrivals were all members of the ensemble are extremely focused and don’t relax until the applause.

«We are dressed, ready for the introductions. After these concerts we are emotionally charged. I realized that I happen to love singing. It turns out, the child pulled out my hidden talents. With her I move, trying, sew costumes for the ensemble…», — enthusiastically says mom Susie.

Our children don’t need to regret

Pity is the last thing children with down syndrome, said Irina Stepanova. According to the mother of a member of the ensemble, these children need someone who will be able to instill discipline and will help to develop further. The shortage of such people and complains Irina.

«We spend 4,5 hours to Ksenia 45 minute workout exercises. In Rostov in the circus is a society «Rays of goodness», and there’s a circus Studio for our children. In Azov there was no place. Where I’ll sit with us?» — lamenting mother of a special child.

Irina faces challenges in nearly every sports section. Coaches are the result of performance, of victory, says a resident of Azov. In addition, according to the woman, in sports clubs are afraid to take responsibility for children with down syndrome.

«This one-man performance – we run, we swim, I soon to compete with her will. We somehow do not prepare coaches to work with these children, even afraid of us in the pool to run. We hated it for the first time in the pool in General was guarded, watching every step,» says Irina.

Responsibility for children lies with the parents, not the coaches, insists azovchanka. Irina herself has become for Susie personal trainer: mom taught a girl to swim, run with her hand on a separate track for athletics, dances, and paints with her.

«We still focus on creativity. Somehow some people think that our children have no talent. I think each person at least one talent Yes there is, for us the most important thing is to find this talent, to believe in the child and develop his talent further», — said Irina Stepanova.

Many do not reach the University

One of the main objectives of the program «the Special childhood» «Children’s University» at DSTU – socialization of the child with disabilities. The program should help these children to Be «like everyone» — this wording is used when talking about adaptation in society. However, the question remains whether University of the inmates of new programs as future potential students.

Inna Volodina – candidate of psychological Sciences, she heads the Department of inclusive education at DSTU. The Department accompanies the students with disabilities and the limited possibilities of health, and also creates comfortable conditions for learning at the University. In DSTU there are about 100 students – mostly boys with visual impairment, hearing, problems in the musculoskeletal system, but has no features of mental development. Mental disabilities, according to Volodya, many universities are not isolated in some separate category and often just don’t work with her. The situation may change in the near future, since the University created the curriculum that is taught to children with peculiarities of mental development.

«Take the child with autism spectrum disorder. Any movement in the educational space he has? This child can go to secondary school and learn the same program that its normative developing peers. There are very a lot will depend on his teachers, from parents, from conditions, from specialists. However, it is normal there is an option when the child finishes school, goes to University and then working in the specialty,» says head of the inclusive education.

She notes that children with autism are potentially much better adapted to the exam. Despite the large number of successful cases of employment of children with autism in the world, in Russia such statistics is still in its infancy.

Until recently in Russia the diagnosis «autism» didn’t exist in people after they reach adulthood. According to ina Volodya, the diagnosis of the person changes to another – most often the person with autism was recognized as suffering from schizophrenia after the age of 18. According to the candidate of psychological Sciences, in the world practice proved that autism in many cases is not transferred in schizophrenia.

The diagnosis can not be changed

To be like everyone in Russia has opened a Children’s University for special children© RIA Novosti / Faith no Costumizable: the dream of terminally ill kids mid-October 2017 the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation sent to the County government a letter in which he warned against undue change of diagnosis to people with infantile autism when reaching adulthood. According to Volodya, the letter of the Ministry of health could in theory be a prerequisite for the creation of special conditions for the admission of children with mental disabilities in universities.

«Now, even developed guidelines for different organs, including methodological and social expertise, in order to prevent such incidents, when distorted thus the diagnosis», says Volodin.

Now applicants with such characteristics of the development act on a par with the normative high school graduates. And if teenagers with autism can often get a student card, the children together with autism intellectual disability, can rely often only on professional education. It is also possible to say about children with down syndrome. In Russia is not a precedent that people with down syndrome enter higher education.

«However, people with down syndrome may very well learn some working skills. This is also a decent way of their social adaptation, however, it requires a very large amount of pedagogical and material conditions, as well as to special working conditions. For him, it should be accessible and interesting work. World practice suggests that the place of work for people needs to take account of special needs. In Russia it is individual episodes,» — says the candidate of psychological Sciences.

According to ina, at the moment, the Department of inclusive education are not separately monitors students with mental disabilities, as officially they are just not there (although 20% of students did not specify his exact diagnosis). According to the head of Department, the need to work with this group of children and their continued support will appear in connection with the opening of the new program «the Special childhood».

The Ministry of education of the Rostov region, the Agency reported that in 58 educational institutions in the region for 52 areas enrolled about 400 students with disabilities and the limited possibilities of health. In 2017, students enrolled 125 children. Graduated from educational institutions in 2017 81 people, 23 of them graduate already employed for 39 former students of the colleges still are working to find employment. Statistics on higher education institutions to provide the Ministry could not, as not all the universities in the region, according to the Agency, provide such data.
