Opened in Yalta monument to Alexander III can be considered one of the most iconic on the Peninsula, said the Minister of culture of Crimea Arina Novoselskaya.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday opened a monument to Alexander III in Yalta. He noted the contribution of the Emperor to the country’s development, economy and Russia’s role in the political arena.

Novoselskaya noted that the Livadia on the South coast of the Crimea for a reason selected for the monument because the Emperor loved this place and come here often.

«I really liked this sculpture. And murals, which is located behind the monument, composite, very informative. There main milestones in the activities of the great king-peacemaker. The discovery of such a monument is a very momentous event for Crimea. Convinced that this monument can be considered one of the most iconic, especially when you take into account the fact that the king died in Livadia», — told RIA Novosti nowosielski.

The monument was erected in the Park of Livadia, on the place where the building is a Small Palace where, on 1 November 1894, Alexander died. III. The Palace was the favourite residence of the Emperor when he came to Livadia. During the great Patriotic war the building was destroyed.
