Czech President miloš Zeman begins his visit to Russia, the main attention in the course of which will be paid to strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations. This will be discussed in the main part of his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The visit will last from 20 to 24 November.

Zeman plans to meet with Putin and Medvedev

As announced Sunday by the press service of the Prague castle, Zeman on Monday will arrive with his wife Ivana Zemanova in Sochi where on Tuesday he plans to hold talks with Putin.

While discussing the bilateral relations and the international situation Zeman intends to address the question of the senselessness of the current sanctions, imposed by Western countries against Russia and the Russian response. This was the head of the Czech Republic said Thursday on TV Barrandov.

Zeman is known for his very outspoken views on international issues. In October it received a great response to his speech at the session of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where the head of the Czech Republic said that attempts to return the Crimea to Ukraine would lead to war. Zeman stressed that the annexation of Crimea to Russia a fait accompli.

In addition, Zeman expressed the view that in the case of the dialogue between Kiev and Moscow «to think about compensation for the Crimea, financial compensation or compensation in the form of supplies of oil or gas.» These words of the head of the Czech Republic met with mostly negative reaction — both in the West and in Russia, and Ukraine.

Wednesday in Moscow the planned meeting Zeman with Medvedev.

In addition, the head of the Czech Republic will participate in the opening of the forum of Russian and Czech entrepreneurs and to attend the signing of documents on bilateral economic cooperation.

Record the composition of the business delegation

Zeman repeatedly declared the desire during his foreign visits to promote Czech business interests. This time with him in Russia attracts record number of participants of the business delegation, which includes more than 130 executives from leading companies and enterprises of the Republic.

«I have not heard that the business delegation headed by the head of any country flew to Russia on three planes. One or two traditional business. But on three is very unusual. The heads of our leading companies fly to Russia with the aim to consolidate the already established contacts with Russian colleagues to sign certain agreements, as well as to find new partners,» — said RIA Novosti on the eve of visit the head of the business delegation, President of the Union of industry and transport of the Czech Republic Jaroslav Hanák.

Her one meeting partners from Russia and the Czech Republic — in addition to the Moscow forum of the Russian and Czech businessmen will be held with the participation of Zeman on Friday in Yekaterinburg. According to Hanák, there is expected the signing of agreements on cooperation between Czech entrepreneurs and their colleagues from the Urals and Siberia.

Sanctions aren’t an obstacle for direct manufacturing contacts

According to the head of the Czech business delegation, the anti-sanctions from the West initially led to a significant drop in trade between the two countries, but in 2016 he was able to recover. This contributed actively to the establishment of direct ties between individual regions and enterprises of Russia and the Czech Republic. As a result, for seven months of 2017, bilateral trade grew by 35,4% and reached 4,8 billion dollars. In particular, the Czech export increased by 14.5%, reaching $ 1.5 billion.

In Yekaterinburg, the agreement with local partners will be signed by the Director of the Czech firm «brisk», which in the last 20 years has delivered more than half a billion of spark plugs for cars. Open company «brisk» at the end of 2016 branch in the Volga Togliatti was released less than a year about 7 million candles.

Another Czech company, «Pragoimex», prepared agreement with the company «Uralvagonzavod» on joint modernization of the Czech trams čkd T-3 used in Russian cities. It will be produced at the plant «Uraltransmash», Yekaterinburg.
