The investigator of the main Department of internal Affairs across the Kemerovo region opened a criminal case on the fact of air pollution in Kemerovo, after complaints from local residents on the peculiar smell in the air, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday the press service of the Ministry.

«This year, the police received several complaints from residents of Volgograd, who complained about the odor in the air. The Department of inquiry of the interior Ministry in the region initiated the inspection in which employees of the Kemerovo centre of Hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring from January to October have conducted studies of atmospheric air. By results of check criminal case», — said the Agency interlocutor.

Experts weather service revealed excess of maximum permissible concentrations of such contaminants as ammonia, nitrogen dioxide, soot, hydrogen chloride and carbon monoxide. In addition, according to the criteria of Roshydromet level of air pollution for 2017 in the regional centre is high and, consequently, has an adverse impact on public health, said the Agency.

According to preliminary information, the most pollution are located in the Central and Factory districts of Kemerovo. On this fact the investigator of the regional interior Ministry opened a criminal case under article «air pollution», which attracts as a punishment the penalty to 80 thousand roubles, deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to five years, or up to 360 hours of compulsory work, up to a year of correctional labor, or up to three months of arrest.

As explained in the Chapter of the police, the specific culprits are to be installed in the course of the inquiry.
