25th anniversary festival of Russian films will begin on Tuesday in the Normandy town of Honfleur in Northern France and runs until Sunday.

The official opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday, but the shows because of the influx of visitors traditionally start a day early. The opening film this year, as previously reported by RIA Novosti the representative of the organizing Committee of the festival Elena Duffer, will be the film directed by Karen Shakhnazarov’s «Anna Karenina. History Vronsky».

The struggle for the Grand Prix lead with seven films: «Arrhythmia», «Turkish saddle», «Heathen», «I Found spit on the stone», «Burn!», «Carp frostbitten», «As Victor Garlic was carrying Lech Pin in the nursing home». The results of the contest program will fail on Saturday evening and the festival will end on Sunday, November 26.

The jury of anniversary festival includes German actor Richard Sammel, French actor Mehdi Nebbou French actress Anne-Solenn Hutt, French model and actress Marie-ange Casta, the French actress Pascal Arbio, the operator Gilles Port, French economist and public figure grégoire Chertok. Chairman of the jury was the French actor and filmmaker Safi Nebbou.

Duffer added that to the attention of the French audience will be invited and a number of non-competitive programs, including an exhibition of paintings that had the greatest success in the Russian box office: «Gravity», «first Time», «Salyut-7», «About love. Adults only», «Viking», «Gogol. The beginning.»

In addition, the festival will be presented the painting «20:17», dedicated to the centenary of the 1917 revolution, the films «Matilda», «Cool tango», «Normandy-Neman. Monologue» and «I’m the teacher.» The organizing Committee has also prepared a documentary film program.

The organizers have set a goal to expand the geography of the festival, gradually turning it into a Russian film festival in Normandy, so this year the screenings will be held not only in Honfleur, but other Norman cities, said Duffer. Another challenge is to try to attract the interest of French youth. To this end, the festival invites groups of students from universities of Rouen, Caen and other cities, organizes meetings with filmmakers, as well as sessions for students and younger children.
