The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel called for the holding of new elections to the Bundestag. She declared it in interview to TV channel ARD.

Previously Free democratic party of Germany out of which lasted for several weeks negotiating the formation of a coalition with the CDU/CSU Chancellor and «Green» (coalition «Jamaica»). In addition, the leaders of the party «Alternative for Germany» called on Merkel to resign.

The head of the Cabinet noted that skeptical the option of a minority government and he would prefer new elections.

«From my point of view, a new election would be the best solution,» she said. In addition, the Chancellor has rejected calls for resignation.

At the same time, in an interview with ZDF television, Merkel said that it is ready to negotiations on forming a new government after the elections to the Bundestag on September 24.

«After today’s announcement creates the impression that the social Democrats are still not ready to take responsibility, but the question the social Democrats should decide for themselves. But I have to negotiate, of course, ready,» she said.

«Jamaica» in case of success of negotiations would have 393 of 709 seats in the Bundestag (55%), but after the liberals remaining participants in the negotiations have only 44% of the seats without getting a majority. The SPD had previously ruled out the possibility of their participation in a «Grand coalition» with the CDU/CSU is another option, which would create a majority government (399 seats, or 56%).
