The European Union has imposed sanctions against the Governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov, said the EU official journal.

This step is because Ovsyannikov worked on the integration to Russia «illegally annexed the Crimean Peninsula.»

«Thus he is responsible for supporting or carrying out actions or policies which undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine», — concluded in the European Union.

In September, the Council of the European Union extended sanctions against individual citizens and legal entities, who are accused of undermining the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. The list includes 149 people and 38 legal entities. They were forbidden entry into the EU and froze their assets.

The lifting of EU sanctions linked to «the implementation by Russia of the Minsk agreements». Moscow believes this approach is absurd, since Russia is not included in the number of parties to the Ukrainian conflict. The Kremlin has repeatedly stressed that sanctions are not able to solve any tasks set by the EU in relations with Russia.
