USA suspended the program of legalization of arrivals of citizens of Haiti

USA suspended the program of granting of legal status who arrived in the country for the citizens of Haiti after the 2010 earthquake initiated ex-President Barack Obama, reported the Ministry of internal Affairs.

As noted in the United States, in connection with the progress made to rebuild the country, who arrived after the disaster in the US, the citizens of Haiti must return home. The decision will come into force on 22 July 2019.

«Based on available information, the acting head of (Ministry of internal Affairs) Duke decided that there is no more caused by the 2010 earthquake terrible conditions», — it is told in received RIA Novosti news Agency the message of Department.

The U.S. decision was discussed with the foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Haiti in Washington, said in a statement.

In 2010 President Obama ordered to provide special status for a period of 18 months for staying legally in the US Haitians, subsequently the order has been extended numerous times.

However, in may 2017, a new administration has warned that Washington intends to suspend the program granting temporary legal status to Haitians who arrived in the U.S. after the catastrophic earthquake of 2010. Latest Obama extended permit will expire in January 2018, the administration trump made the decision to delay the termination of the program for 18 months (until July 2019), to give the citizens of Haiti time on gathering and registration of necessary documents.

Media reported that on the programme of granting temporary legal status to stay in the U.S. after the 2010 earthquake living and working almost 60 thousand citizens of Haiti.
